The
vision that we have for our corporation, Internet
Technologies Ltd (nettechTM), GOD's grace,
is that we are active players in the regeneration
and rebuilding of our country Nigeria. We
have come together, one and all, to offer
ourselves to service, to the task of nation
building, to the edifying of ourselves and
our people, to the reclamation of our rightful
place in the league of pre-eminent nations.
We feel that both individuals and corporates
have a role to play, in providing leadership
and sharing of resources and experience. Our
hat is thrown in the ring of technology -
the database and the Internet - and we look
forward to serving the business community
and peoples of this country to the best of
our ability, so help us GOD.

Technology
has the potential to improve so many peoples
lives, especially in Third-World economies.
A major driver in the founding of this company
has been a desire to bring into the Nigerian
economy, knowledge and expertise in Information
Technology (IT) from Europe, and indirectly,
from the USA. The hope is that by working
with businesses, and in some cases with the
Public sector, improvements in service could
in the first instance better the quality of
interfaces provided to people.
Alternatively, by increasing the profitability
of businesses, and their economic activity,
knowledge and wealth percolates to the society
at large. With over seven years experience
in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland,
we are in a good position to participate
in this mission of trans-continental knowledge
exchange, while also securing a place for
this company, Internet Technologies Ltd,
as the doyen of Nigerian technology corporations
in the not too distant future, by GOD's
Grace.

In
the engineering of software systems, it has
been clear, since the 1970's that a structured
approach to development is not only necessary,
but also optimal. Since those times, it would
seem that new methods and techniques to support
the development process appear almost weekly.
At nettech, we know that not all approaches
are expedient in all business environments,
and we take care to apply only those technologies
that best serve the purpose.
Different problems applications require
different approaches and techniques and
occassionally, an identical problem in a
different business context may require an
unidentical solution. However, in the engineering
of any substantial business systems, we
insist on a structure, and certain prerequisite
procedures for evolving the solution from
the requirement. Our objective at all times
is to deliver quality systems that satisfy
clients, are enduring, and bolster our reputation
as Software System Engineers.
Gabriel is a graduate of the University
of Ibadan, and has several years of experience
design and development of software systems.
His empathy, patience and diligence, in
addition to his experience and knowledge
of systems engineering, has been invaluable
in seeing projects from conception to completion.

The
Machinery and Operating System (OS) combine
to form the foundation on which all other
IT activities build, a sound foundation gives
confidence and allows room for imagination
and expression in the upper layers. At nettechTM,
we are always looking for new ways of securing
this foundation as well as cutting costs for
our customers. Over time we have developed
a pragmatic bias for the Linux OS on the backend
(Server-side) as it offers a lower cost of
ownership for our clients, providing UNIX-class
features at PC prices, as well as very high
levels of security and availability.
The Intel platform continues to provide
a cost effective solution for many SMEs,
but more recently AMD based systems have
become an option for cash-strapped lower
end clients. The company continues to maintain
expertise in, and support for those clients
whose needs are best served on NT/2000 platforms,
as well as defering to the superiority,
ubiquity and accessibility of the plethora
of Windows OS(s) that dominate the desktop.
Whatever the requirements though, clients
will find the in-depth knowledge of hardware
OS(s) by this department reassuring.
Lawrence was formerly a Senior Network
Administrator at the Nigerian Postal Office
(NIPOST) and has many years of experience
in managing hybrid networks. His proficiency
with Oracle 8i databases gives him an additional
responsibility of overseeing development
database instances in a mixed NT/Linux LAN.

Perhaps
the most basic requirement for excellence
in any field and particularly in the programming
field is interest. No extent of academic achievement
can replace the genuine interest of the individual
to become a good programmer. The desire to
seek excellence as a programmer is a necessary
spark to fire up the persistence and determination
needed in sticking it out in the dynamic world
of logic, patterns and algorithms.
A major asset has been the relaxed and
informal office environment. This combined
with a great variety of training and complementary
media, frees up the mind, and stimulates
the intellect The output and commitment
of this department attests to the value
of that investment. Combining these fundamental
necessities with a structured environment
of system engineering, effort is more effectively
chanelled at delivering quality systems
that not only meet, but exceed the expectations
of clients.
ABJ is a graduate of the University of
Lagos and comes from a background of C programming
for bespoke commerce systems, and simulation.
With extensive experience and knowledge
of a plethora of languages and environments,
including, C++, Java, PERL, Visual Basic,
Linux, NT, Process Control, SQL, ... etc.

Due
to the complexity of software systems, it
is virtually impossible to place a quality
mark against a system of many parts, or to
give reassurances to clients based only on
the whole. However, by ensuring that the parts
that make up the whole have all been developed
to a certain standard, confidence levels can
be shored up. Quality assurance makes a logical
assumption that if all the parts of the system
are correct, the whole system will be, to
a large extent, sound.
The primary tool for the validation of
the quality of software components, today,
is Testing. Testing applied throughout the
system development lifecycle verifies the
sanity of requirements, is an aid to the
review of design, and the validation of
the developed system against the specification
of the client's requirements. Inadequate
testing, or no testing at all, leads to
errors that become exponentially more expensive
to fix as system development progresses.
By employing Testing and strict Change
Management, this department helps to reduce
the mean time to failure (MTTF) and failure
intensity or mean time between failures
(MTBF) of the systems engineered by nettech
designers and developers. A priceless by
product of this effort is the confidence
clients gain in systems that we engineer
for them.
Felecia Adebanjo is a computer science
graduate with a background in web page development
and interface programming. This has been
a useful launchpad into the world of Testing
and Configuration Management. Her department
now oversees the progression of software,
from specification to Customer Acceptance
Testing.

The
World Wide Web continues to grow faster than
any other segment of the Internet. Its graphical
interface and hypertext capabilities have
caught the fancy of Internet users and the
media like no other tool in history. Businesses,
Schools, government and other organisations
are flocking to the web to promote themselves
and their products in front of an audience
spanning the entire planet.
Due to the web's popularity and its cost-effectiveness
as a marketing tool, the World Wide Web
is quickly becoming the electronic market
place of the future. By melding technology
and culture, we have been able to preserve
the message/intention of our clients - exegesis
- while changing the medium of expression,
this requires imagination, empathy, and
attention to detail, qualities that all
nettech clients can take for granted in
this new world of opportunities.
Wole is a Graphic Artist/Designer, a talented
young man with vast ideas and knowledge
in Art and Design. His background has been
illustration, however, exposure to the computer
and the dexterity of its interface has convinced
him of its potential for expression. He
now leads our media department and oversees
all visual interfaces, online and offline.
